Christmas can be an expensive time, with many often entering the new year laden with debts as a result of overspending.
Money Advice Service has conducted research which suggests that a million of us will take out pay day loans to cover the cost of Christmas, whilst a third will use credit cards to see them through the festive period.
Last year UK households spent £1000 on average and prices are going up. To help cut down on costs why not try these tips:
- Reduce your present list to things for the children only.
- Use saved up loyalty card points and vouchers.
- Make a list of who you are buying for and what you are buying, before you hit the shops to reduce impulse buys.
- Wait until the sales to buy presents
There are many ways to help you save money this Christmas, so why not try one and see how much better off you can be?
