According to this years Post Office Survey Holiday Money Report, Bali is the cheapest destination for UK holiday goers in 2014. The report looks at the currency trends of the past year and also the cost of eight typical holiday buys in the destinations you’re planning on going to.
Items such as:
-
Suncream (2ooml SPF 15)
-
Bottle/pint of local beer
-
Bottle of mineral water (1.5L)
-
Three course meal for two with a bottle of wine
The top 5 cheapest destinations for 2014 with the cost of the eight typical purchases are:
-
Bali: Kuta – £31.48
-
Portugal: Algarve – £35.37
-
Czech Republic: Prague – £36.82
-
Gambia: Kololi – £38.38
-
Bulgaria: Sunny Beach – £38.46
-
Spain: Costa Del Sol – £39.14
However when looking at flight prices for some of the cheaper destinations such as Bali and Vietnam they tend to be in the more expensive range as these are all long haul destinations. If you are looking to save money on the overall cost of your holiday it may be worth just sticking to European destinations.
