Could shopping delivery be set to change?
Online shopping giant Amazon are apparently in talks with Transport for London about using London Underground ticket offices, which will be unused from next year, as drop off points for its goods.
London Mayor Boris Johnson has revealed new plans for the London Underground with tubes running 24 hours at weekends from 2015. The new plans will also bring about change in how we buy London Underground tickets, with staff being moved from ticket offices and being based on platforms and ticket halls. This announcement has not come without controversy as the proposed new plan will almost definitely mean a cut in employment for those with underground jobs in London.
The new tube system will apparently save over £50 million each year, with a goal of £270 million being saved by 2020/21 according to the Transport for London’s business plan.
